Dirty Dozen Discipleship
Purpose
Transformation through Holy Spirit directed application of God’s word helping men become the men of God that God wants us to be, that our families desire us to be, and the church needs us to be.
Process
We will meet the second Monday of each month at 6:30 pm as a corporate gathering and have biblical teaching that will address 12 topics applicable to men (lust, anger, relationships). Men will be challenged to respond to one of at least three challenges (applications) that deal biblically in that specific area of interest. They will work on the application challenge for the entire month.
Position coaches will assist each man in their huddle to live out the biblical challenge applications and apply it to their life. Each huddle should meet at least once per month and some are choosing to: meet once a week, create a blog to interact, going out to eat after the corporate gathering, etc. The important thing is that men encourage, challenge, and communicate with one another. This is a hands on approach whereby we receive instruction from God’s word and then help one another practice the truth. Let’s ask God to help us grow in our relationship with Him and to be the men of God that He has called and is equipping us to be.
Topics
Marriage - Session 9 – Monday March 12 – 6:30 pm
Please come out and see what the LORD will do when men seek Him with all their heart.
Leadership – Session 8
We determined that our goal for 3D was “Do NOT have a grandson with a dog collar”. Seriously, we found scriptural evidence that we are the leaders in our homes. Pastor Donnie talked about types of leadership and talked about steps we could take to be better leaders. Find out more
Moving Forward - Session 7
Pastor Donnie took the New Year resolution attitude and applied it to our spiritual lives. We want the by-products of a solid/deep spiritual walk with the LORD but do not want to do the heavy lifting involved. We need to set our sites on Him and strive to become the Men of God that work out their walks and do the hard things.
Spiritual Foundations – Session 6
Every Godly Man needs to practice certain biblical principles to remain connected to our Lord and keep their eyes focused on Him. We discussed 4 of these principles during this session as the men were challenged to grow in one area of their walks.
Value System – Session 5
Pastor Donnie discussed what we value most and how we can try to determine if it is not obvious. Here are the challenges for the month: 1) Search Scriptures and ask God to give you a life verse. 2) Prayerfully write a mission (value) statement 3). Honestly, evaluate what you value most?
Look at what and why you flee, fight, follow.
Manhood – Session 4
Inspired by the movie Courageous, we utilized several movie clips to emphasize the power and importance of being a Godly Man in our society today. We need to have courage to stand for our families while there is still time to be bold and active. See More
Anger – Session 3
Pastor Donnie had an awesome talk about ANGER and provided LOTS of scripture for us to consider as we attempt the transform our minds and deal with anger. Show me more
Lust – Session 2
The most requested topic by men attending session 1. Dr. Cutrer, CBC member and wonderful speaker, taught us what scripture says and how it affects men today. We need to be serious about this issue and deal with it under biblical authority. Click for more.
Biblical Authority – Session 1
Are you spiritually aneroxic or bulimic? A healthy man is one “whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night.” Psalm 1:2 The bible is authentic, authoritative, absolute, applicable, adequate and active per Pastor Donnie’s teaching from 2 Timothy 3:16-17. Show me more and challenge me.
