Biblical Authority 7/11

Pastor Donnie discussed the vision of the 3D Men’s Ministry comparing it to the mission and ministry of Jesus and Nehemiah’s wall rebuilding project.

Teaching time for the month was led by Pastor Donnie, he taught us that we needed to cultivate a biblical world view in our lives and allow the bible to impact our lives.  His text was 2 Timothy 3:16-17 which teaches us that:

  • The Bible is authentic
  • The Bible is authoritative
  • The Bible is absolute
  • The Bible is applicable
  • The Bible is adequate
  • The Bible is active

Each month men will be challenged to apply lessons learned to their lives and encouraged to continue working them out by position coaches.  The challenges this month for biblical authority

  • Find a verse of scripture that speaks to you about biblical authority and memorize it.  Each man needs to find their own verse and should be able to recite it to others when asked.  Here are a few suggestions:  2 Tim 3:16-17, Heb 4:12, 2 Sam 22:31, Prov 30:5, Mathew 4:4
  • Most men are either anorexic or bulimic spiritually speaking.  Anorexic meaning that they do not read their bibles on their own at all.  Bulimic meaining that they read or listen but do not allow what they are exposed to in God’s word to affect their lives.  For men in either of these categories, we are suggesting to start by reading a chapter per day of Proverbs.  The men that are already healthily intaking God’s word please keep up the good work and encourage others.
  • Blind spots is a term coined by Bill McCartney to indicate an area in a man’s life where the bible is not reigning in their lives.  It could be an area where they are believing a lie or have not heard or understood what the Word says about the particular area.  The man accepting this challenge will most likely need assistance in identifying their blind spot which means they should receive input from close relationships.  Once identified, you should research what the bible says about that area of your life and allow scripture to mold you into God’s man.
