Counseling and Support

Crestwood Baptist Church Pastoral Counseling Center

A Satellite of St. Matthews Pastoral Counseling Center

Christ-centered counseling is available at Crestwood Baptist Church for individuals, couples, and families in our congregation and community.
Fees are charged for counseling services, but fees are set by considering each individual's ability to pay. Where necessary, fees may be reduced. No person is turned away for inability to pay the normal fees.

If you have questions or would like to schedule an appointment, contact Elizabeth Ellis at 241-8534, ext. 341. Please leave a message and a counselor will call you to set up an appointment.

We also host a variety of support groups. Click here to find out more about the groups that are currently meeting. (Link to SupportGroups.doc)
Pastoral counseling combines the insights and principles of Christian faith and theology with the knowledge and skills of the behavioral sciences. Its primary goal is to empower people to experience increasing wholeness centered in Christ through the process of counseling conversations and with God's presence as a foundation.
Because of the presence of God's Spirit, pastoral counseling conversations are more accurately understood as "trialogue" rather than as "dialogue".

Life in our day is often filled with grief and pain, anguish and trouble, together with a great variety of scarred and broken covenants and relationships. Yet sometimes, even the noise of the world around us is overwhelmed by the raging storm within.

In these times, haunting memories of the past, the agonies of the present, and the fear of an unknown future drown out the still, small voice of God. The power and strength which still remain within us are paralyzed.

One of the primary biblical models guiding the work of the counseling staff is the New Testament image of compassion for all persons (Mark 6:34). For those whose personal lives, relationships, or covenants would benefit from a conversation with a competent pastoral person, the counselors of the St. Matthews Pastoral Counseling Center are here to guide them on a journey of changes, growth, and transformation in the context of Christian faith.

Support Groups

Cancer Support

cancer-support

We have Christian based support groups for both cancer patients and their caregivers or others touched by cancer. These groups are intended to serve those in our community who have a need for the support of others in this time of unique concerns and experiences. The groups are a safe place to share and confront feelings and frustrations as they occur. We also want to help promote awareness and education about different types of cancer and the resources available.
